History

Established in 2015, the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department has become one of the most vibrant departments at the Mandera Technical Training Institute(MTTI).

Our dedicated team of 8 registered trainers, and One technician, provides high-quality education and training in various electrical and electronics fields.

We are proud to have trained over 200 electricians who are now contributing productively to society.

The department boasts a well-equipped workshop feature cutting-edge solar photovoltaics and Electrical Installation equipment.

We actively engage with industry experts through our Industry Advisory Committees, ensuring our curriculum remains relevant and effective.

The department comprises two sections: Information Communication Technology (ICT), and Secretarial Studies.

It offers integrated quality training to trainees, aligns with the institution's vision, mission, and core values, and provides ICT services to other departments.

These services include computer support, maintenance, Programming,Database Management, networking, and a user support helpdesk.

Additionally, the department hosts the jitume Program and Online distance learning system of the institution..

Mission and Objectives

The department's mission is:

    1.Conceive, develop, implement, and manage appropriate ICT solutions for Mandera Technical.
    2.Deliver high-quality teaching and learning services.

History

Craft certificate courses in Plumbing, and Building Technology aims to provide the trainee with thorough knowledge of the techniques and appropriate tools for his/her trade. In addition the trainee should acquire a firm grounding in relevant science and technology.

Core Mandate

At the end of the crafts course, the trainee should be able to:-

  • Acquire sufficient drawing knowledge and skills to enable him/her draw and interpret working drawings
  • Use scientific and mathematical knowledge in the solution of relevant craft solutions
  • Acquire knowledge of common relevant craft and other related materials available in Kenya
  • Acquire knowledge for proper use and care of relevant craft tools and equipment
  • Acquaint himself/herself with a range of occupational and training opportunities available in the construction industry
  • Understand the working of both central and county government and develop awareness of how they affect his/her day to day work

The Business Studies Department focuses on all aspects of the business profession, including accounting, Human Resource, Supply Chain, entrepreneurship and marketing.

The Department provides a framework for building a successful career in the private, public or the nonprofit sector.

The courses aim at providing the trainees with knowledge skills and attitudes to enable him or her to:-

  • Enter the world of work with confidence for either salaried employment or self employment.
  • Operate either as a craftsman or perform middle level supervisory functions.
  • Become responsive and relevant to the country’s human resources required at middle level.
  • Effectively perform Human resource management functions necessary for the achievement of organizational goals.
  • Perform supply Chain management as a middle level manager in an organization.
